India is shining. Indian Rupee is appreciating and forex reserves are brimming. India has become a cynosure of the whole world for anything and everything.
After China, India is the most preferred destination for the business community of the whole world.
Mr. Anil Kumar Bali, Director of the Sunstar Expositions Pvt. Ltd. stated in his interview with ET.Automania.
The Indian economy is booming for almost last five years as a result our stock market has achieved a phenomenal growth of 15,000 points in just 20 months from 5,000 to 20,000 a never happened level.
It is still going up, because of this :
An Indian entrepreneur has become the World's richest man.
Indian real estate has become World's costliest real estate.
Indian Forex reserves have attained a level of US.$.1 trillion.
The whole world is flabbergasted with these grand achievements in India.
On the other hand :
The World Growth was 5.4% in 2006, 5.2% in 2007 and will fall to 4.8% in 2008.Indian industrial growth was 11.5% in 2006, fell to 9.8% in the first five month of 2007.
In view of the above success Government of India in its 10th master plan has set a goal of achieving a milestone of US.$.145 Billion Automotive industry by 2016.
But despite all the above as per Mr. Bali, it still seems difficult to achieve 2016 plan. It is because of the fact that if we compare India with China 40 years back India was making everything and compared to us China was not making anything.
Today, China is making anything and everything. As a result every nook and corner of the whole World has Chinese products and that too at an unimaginable low cost. The Chinese growth has been a result of constant effort to bring the customer to their doorsteps by creating a hundreds of fully focused trade shows with niche approach. It is a simple equation that where there is customer the demand would arise. The demand creates a need to a have strong production bases of mass production. Strong mass production bases united with demand creates low cost production. It has been the basic formula of success with China.
On the contrary we do not have even one show that can be compared with any international show held in China. It is for this reason, we have not been able to sustain our growth as it could have been because 40 years back we had a Pragati Maidan and China did not have anything of this sort.
It reminds me of the saying of our father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi i.e. :
"Customer is our God"
It has just remained as a saying and nothing more than that.
Keeping the China's success and our 2016 US.$.145 BILLION plan in mind the recent SIAM/ACMA convention held in New Delhi. Mr. Madhur Bajaj , the last SIAM President , opined therein in order the achieve this target we have to have a very strong export market of our automotive products and to make it happen we have to have very strong domestic market.
Mr. Bali concord and said, Yes it is a fact that how can we achieve this without reaching our domestic customer and international customer in the absence of fully focused and exclusive shows for each segment of automotive industry. It would not be out of place to put on record that the concept of a mixed Auto show is obsolete, as every part of this industry has attained a huge size in itself and is in need of an independent show with full focus to it. No customer in the world has time to waste in mixed trade shows.
It was also pointed out in the convention by another automotive stalwart Mr.Ravi Kant,CMD, Tata Motors that exhibitions are very cost intensive and at times it becomes difficult to apportion funds for the same. And moreover, we do not have good show venues except for the Pragati Maidan, in New Delhi and that too is in a very bad shape. How can we plan to have shows like that held in China.
In response to all the above Mr. Bali, during his interaction with Mr. Madhur Bajaj and Mr.Ravi Kant in the SIAM/ACMA convention, said that we have started the "Mission-Niche-Expo" by organsing 1st International Bikex India in New Delhi and 1st International COMCON in New Delhi.
We offer to give low cost platform to the industry by creating, organsing and holding low cost trade shows of international standards and quality if industry understands our vision and support the same.
Mr. Vikas Narang, Director, Sunstar added that encouraged by the massive public response to the 1st Bikex India held at New Delhi, we are going to organise and hold the 2nd International BIKEX INDIA at Chennai, CTC Complex, from 14th - 16th December 2007, since India is a large country and needs atleast two shows of one kind in a year enabling every Indian producer reach the end user on one to one basis, proving our point of shows with full focus the total relevance and exclusivity. This would have multifold benefits to the industry, national economy and would be able to achieve the goal of becoming an economic superpower by 2020.
